Candle fragrances are structured like a composition. Notes unfold over time — not all at once. This is why a scent can feel brighter in the first minutes, then warmer or deeper as it settles.
The three layers
- Top notes: the first impression (often fresh, bright, airy).
- Middle notes: the heart of the scent (the main character and theme).
- Base notes: the lasting foundation (often warm, deep, smooth).
What to expect while burning
- Early burn: top notes are most noticeable.
- Mid session: the heart becomes clearer and more balanced.
- Later burn: base notes feel warmer and more present.
Tip
If a candle feels “different” later, that’s often the fragrance structure revealing deeper notes — not a quality issue.
